Child Care Resources (CCR) is a Great Start Regional Resource Center (GSRRC) serving families and providers in the nine southwestern counties of Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, Saint Joseph, and Van Buren.

Child Care Resources offers coaching and technical support that assits both licensed and unlicensed child care providers with the Great Start to Quality system - a continuous quality improvement effort funded by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation.

Community Awareness
Child Care Resources actively seeks to collaborate with other community organizations like United Way, Great Start Collaboratives and Parent Coalitions, Michigan State University Extension, Head Start and others to promote public awareness of the need for quality child care, assistance in finding quality child care, training in the service area, technical assistance and more.

Resource Library
As a Great Start Regional Child Care Resource Center we offer a resource library with themed learning activity totes, packs, books, and equipment that can be borrowed from the libraries located throughout the nine county service area by parents and providers to aid in the education of their children through play promoting school readiness.

NAYCC Re-accreditation for Paw Paw Provider Nicole "Nikki" Barnett

Congratulations to Nikki Barnett on her NAYCC re-acreditation.  She is a group home provider who has been serving the children of Paw Paw for 13 years.  She offers a full preschool program, American Sign Language, Spanish, field trips, arts and crafts and much more. Way to go Nikki!   Thank you for your commitment to quality child care and school readiness! 

National Association for Family Child Care Awards Accreditation to Sherry VanMaaren

Sherry VanMaaren, a family child care business owner in Parchment, Michigan, has recently been awarded a National Accreditation from the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC).  VanMaaren was excited about the challenge of meeting the qualifications for an accreditation saying “It started when I went to a meeting and learned how Accreditation can help improve on the program I already have.  In addition to NAFCC, VanMaaren is a member of Child Care Resource of Kalamazoo Michigan, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children. 

She serves infants through 12 years of age. The curriculum Van Maaren uses is Handwriting without Tears and an individualized program for all other areas of development. She is a participant in the USDA Adult & Child Food Program and offers many field trips including the apple orchard, farms and the fire department. The Community Library visits the program to enhance their literary experiences. VanMaaren said, “My program is fun and easy for all ages to learn, discover and play. I feel confident when the families leave to transition into Kindergarten or school age that I have done my job to get them ready to grow and blossom into successful children.”
